Seeing the smiles on all of the campers and families faces brought back the sweetest memories of my family, THE ALKOBIS days at the Summer Spot. Max and the staff at this camp are amazing at what they do and make each camper feel special. They have a gift and I am so happy that I had the chance of experiencing it as a kid. 15 years and counting. Wow!!" Sarit A.
What is The Summer Spot Day Camp?
A private summer day camp for children ages 5 to 14, located on the beautiful grounds of Camp Bullowa in
Stony Point, NY.
To provide a high quality day camp experience that will enhance children and youth's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development in a safe, positive, supportive and diverse environment.
Our goal is to teach valuable life skills such as self confidence, risk taking, and working well with others. Campers growth and learning are supported in a non-competitive environment.
Our goal is to teach sportsmanship and co-operation while developing motor and physical skills, all while having FUN!!! All campers athletic ability and competitive nature are respected.
Our goal is to stimulate and develop each child's imagination as well as
refine their cognitive and creative skills. Campers create and explore while
having old fashioned, hands-on fun.
Our two key goals are safety and fun. We go swimming two times per week from 10 AM to 2 PM, which allows for ample free swim time. One on one swim lessons are conducted in an effective manner by our lifeguards.
Allows campers the flexibility of choosing from a selection of activities, which strengthens their decision making abilities. Our staff plan and produce the hobby time activities, which empowers them as well.
Whether it's learning how to ride a go-kart, bowling for a strike, seeing marine life up close or learning cool facts at a science center and more, our campers experience 'fun learning' on our trips, which are closely supervised and family members are welcome to chaperone.
Our campers, from a surprise visit from actor Bill Irwin, to Color Games, to Bill Robinson’s Wild Life Animal Lectures, to Macaroni The Clown, to our ‘older group’ camp out and our annual Family Dinner and Slide Show and more, are experiencing more ‘fun learning’!
Children and nature colliding positively affects development. Science helps kids develop patience, perseverance, problem solving, skepticism and sparks their minds. This combination of activities enriches our campers experience and is full of fun learning!
Our Archery Program improves focus, patience, self-confidence and is fun because simply put, kids love to shoot bows and arrows!

Our director has over 25 years worth of experience leading groups of kids on overnights and wilderness camping.
Our goals on our overnights are to
give our youth the opportunity to strengthen friendships and relationships as individuals within a group setting and ‘unplug’ all while experiencing the outdoors and acquiring camping skills.

Or so they say. This weekend, Dazed flew out to Lagos, Nigeria for the third annual MTV Africa Music.
Awards and spent a few days and some late nights meeting rap, R&B and kuduro superstars from across Africa: names like Banky W, Fally Ipupa, Daddy Owen, Cabo Snoop and Radio & Weasel, from Angola to Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and beyond, all huge stars in their own countries, selling truckloads of records despite rampant piracy and a rickety music industry. These guys are kind of the Jay Zs and Snoops of Africa, basically.
